this came in an email and is not meant to poke fun at any doctors out there by me.

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.

© Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services.

Now think about this:

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.

( YES, that's 80 Million )

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

© The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.

Statistics courtesy of FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on

lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

What about the physicians who own firearms?

I got that in an email in the past (ironically enough from a doctor) and actually pulled up some numbers on it. The accidental death rate is substantially lower than that (at least with the data I have access to).

I don't ever want to accidentally die! B)

Yea, when I die, it'll be on purpose!! B) (and probably the purpose of my wife, after I come home with another gun! "I promise! It just followed me here, hun!")

I don't believe there are 80 million gun owners in the US, maybe 80 million guns sure, but not owners. There are about 301 million people in the US, thats saying that 26% of those people own guns, and thats including people underage, criminals, and other people that cannot own guns. Regardless it will still be a really small percentage of accidents, just not that small.

Well, it might not be too bad if I accidentally killed .000188 of myself.

Don't cut your toenails or you will! B)
