I am looking for a "holster" that can attach to the shoulder harness of a backpack for a small semi-auto. I want it to be stealthy in that, I don't want it to print nor do I want it to be obvious as to what it is.

I think that if attached to the the left strap, in front, and being right handed, it could be easily accessible.

Any thoughts?

I have a SafePacker sized to fit a full size 1911 or Beretta 92. It is well made, but it is HUGE. It seems that a "zip open" or "rip open" case could be made smaller than that, which would hold a full size pistol in a square innocuous looking case. I got the SafePacker for that model thinking maybe for hiking, but it is so big it might be annoying having something that big hanging off the belt.

The smaller SafePackers for smaller guns might be more practical, though perhaps all of them will be designed bigger than they would have to be. Wouldn't mind seeing and trying some of the smaller ones, but don't want to know bad enough to order one. They are well made.

Desantis makes a Pistol Pack for tiny semi's that is well made and works great. It is just barely bigger than the gun. The one for my NAA 380 looks like a cellphone case, and it is easy to unzip and draw. It ought to fit on a backpack strap fine--

I wish they made a zipper pack just like that but just a little bigger, to hold 3.5" barrel pistols. I think maybe I saw one, but can't find it on their web page today.

The discreet hip pouch would hold a bigger pistol. It probably works fine, but I like the Pistol Pack design better, if they made a Pistol Pack this size--

They make one other that is pretty small, the gun caddie--

Go to the web site and select your gun model, and the site will list the holsters it thinks will fit.

EDIT: I found their bigger zipper holster, the E-Z Rider II. They say its big enough for my Kahr P9. Maybe I'll try one--

Those are discreet? What else could possibly be in there? "oh, that's my .... um .... iphone case. Yeah, iphone case. " Seems like you're average hiking style fanny pack would be far less obvious than a big, black nylon bag that just screams "tacti-cool".

The only thing I've seen like what the OP is asking for was a guy who modified a leather holster to fit on the shoulder and sternum straps. And he carried a 1911 in the woods that way, wide open for all to see. Good thing you don't see many people in the woods.

The small DeSantis Pistol Pack that holds guns the size of a NAA 380 is pretty discrete. It isn't any bigger than my nylon cellphone bag. Somebody looking for "gun" would have to decide which nylon zipper bag it is in. They have a big list of tiny pistols it will fit.

I agree the bigger ones would be less discrete. But folks tote GPS, cameras, binocs, etc, in bags about the size of the bigger DeSantis bags.

Lots of hikers have all sorta junk hanging off their packs in little nylon bags. All different sizes.
