Long Gun Rookie

I have just recently caught the long gun sickness. I have acquired 7 in the last 6 months. Anyway, all of them have iron sights. My last purchase was a budget .22 (mossberg 709.) I wanted something cheap i could take to the range and let my buddies shoot without worrying about wear and tear. So, i would like to put a scope on this little guy. I dont want to hang a $200 scope on a $100 rifle (think $5,000 rims on a 1993 skylark.) Any suggestions on a decent scope for punchen' holes in paper at the range? I'd say 100 yards is the max i would care to shoot this .22

I have used the cheap ones at Wal-mart with good results. Although, by the time you throw in tax and such, that Barska with free shipping might be cheaper.

I have one, and thus far am pleased. It's a bit more expensive at $116, plus shipping, than the bargain-barrel rimfire scopes, but it's built heavy, is nitrogen filled, and comes with a lifetime warranty.

I have a little Bushnell 3-9 rimfire scope from Wal-Mart on a Marlin .22 that works just fine. Punches paper and squirrels just fine.

I have a Pentax Gameseeker from Cameras, Binoculars, Spotting Scopes, Rifle Scopes - Camera Land NY on my Savage MkII. Click the Demos/Sample drop down at the top. As far as I could tell, it was NIB and about 1/2 the normal price.

And what's wrong with $5K rims on a '93 Skylark? I mean, if you're going to put $8K into a stereo for that bad boy, you need some nice rims to go with it.
