I am in the same boat as you. I couldnt resist the price! I ordered one at the cost or $180. I know it comes with an extra mag, but hopefully it will come with all the other goodies. I am also crossing my fingers for a TGI import!

I used Brownell's cold blue gel, but it didn't get real dark...

The trick is to degrease it several times before the first application and use a hair dryer after each rinse to completely dry up the water and heat the metal for the next application. Not sure if this is okay to post, but here's a link to the site where I posted the project (Finally got some pics of my refinished CZ 82).

Very nice job, indeed! That is almost too pretty to shoot!

They seem to be pretty close to the mak design. For my mak, I shortened the bar between the trigger and hammer (the really long one that goes down the side of the frame) by about 1/4 inch. The result was a target trigger, single action only mak. You need someone with a quality welding rig and tools to do it though; the first time the weld broke after like 5 shots, the second time, well 3k rounds or so later, its still going. Or you could have a shop machine a new bar from scratch. Its the only mod I did to mine. My finish is thin and worn off in places but it doesnt seem to rust, so I havent messed with it. The trigger mod isnt for everyone, but if anyone wanted to make one of these things into a cheap target gun, its perfect. I wouldnt do that on a carry piece, doubly so if you do not trust your welding ability.

Got mine today  It came with two mags and a cleaning rod. i would rate the finish good-very good, but all in all I am very happy with it! I will post some pictures when I get some camera time. BTW this has one of the best triggers I have ever pulled in both single and double action. Now I must try to convince myself not to buy another tomorrow...

I just ordered one myself. Now to get some ammo.

I know a lot of folks here still don't like CheaperThanDirt.com, but I get all my 9X18 ammo from them. They always have the Russian stuff for $9/box (sometimes as low as $8). If you can't shoot steel casings at your range, their cheapest brass ones are $15, which isn't bad compared to LGS prices.

I don't know about your area, but around middle TN, you can barely find 9X18 ammo under $20/box. I did run into some at Outpost Armory once for $15/box for Silver Bear JHP's.

I've personally shot 15-20 boxes of the Wolf and Bear ammo out of mine and have absolutely no ill effects from the laquered steel casings. The powder's a bit dirty, but show me some cheap target ammo where this isn't the case.

These guns are pretty darn rugged anyway and I've read numerous comments on the CZ forum that this ammo won't hurt your gun.

I haven't tried to date it yet.

The date is on the the right side of the frame, just above where the front of the trigger guard meets the frame. For instance, mine says "she 86" and has two crossed Roman swords. The "she" means it was mfg'd by Czech Arms Factory in Uhersky Brod, CZ and the number is the 2-digit year it was made. The swords stamp is the military acceptance stamp, meaning this model is designed for the Czech Army.

Technically it's a VZ 82 (the VZ stands for vzor, which means "model" in Czech). All of their guns adopted by the military have a VZ in the name and all their guns made for the public have CZ in the name. When the CZ-83 (.380 version of the same gun) came out for sale to the public, everyone started calling the older 9mm Mak's a CZ-82 instead of VZ 82 and it just stuck.
