What happens when a 1911 guy is offered a brand new Glock 19 for a steal?

They may not be as addictive as the 1911, but caution is necessary to prevent having a safe filled with them.

They are every bit as addictive as the 1911 bug. Be very cautious. I said I'd never own one. Then I acquired a G22 in a trade. That led to a G30. Now a G19. What's next? My Springfields are getting jealous.

Looks as though you are not just a 1911 guy anymore. I like the notion of being a "gun guy" or "shooter guy." Too many people limit their potential fun by locking into Ford or Chevy and refusing to try the other. Glocks and 1911s are equal amounts of fun and equally effective for about any purpose. The same holds true for all sorts of revolvers and other polymer pistols; they are all fun and almost any of them will get the job done. The difference in accuracy is virtually irrelevant, too, unless one is planning to do some handgun benchrest competition. :-)
