Today I went to my inlaws with the wife to help get Christmas decorations out of the attic. Man do they have some. Well as we are finishing my fnl says I've got something I want to look at. He pulls out this hard case and a soft rifle case. Opens them up and a Marlin 1895S 45/70 and a Savage 170 .35 Rem. Said he bought some time in the nines. They belonged to some of his inlaws, the man had pased on and no one else wanted them so he ended up with them. They both need to be cleaned up, I want to buy one or maybe both just don't know much about the 170's. I do know that the .35's are a lot hard to come by.

They have both been hunted with and show signs of it. Like everything you here good and bad so I was just wanting to here what some of ya'll think about them. I don't need either of them but since when did that mater, right.

So I guess let it rip.

I have been doing a little searching today. I found three that sold the past year 305, 365, and a like new one with a scope that sold last May for 475. This one has 4x redfield on it. So I'm thinking maybe around 350. :shrug:The gun is in pretty good shape the bluing has a little wear, but the wood looks good. The Marlin is nice and has a Bushnell 3x9 scope. I've been cleaning them up today and was going to take them out shoot em, but my brother called a few minutes ago and said he needed some help getting some cows up to go to the sale. So it will probably be tomorrow before I get the time. Got togo.

All I can find on the scope is 4x Redfield nothing else, these scopes are probably from the eightys. Actually the Bushnell is alot clearer than the Redfield, niether of these rifles have been fired since then, my father inlaw bought em and put em up. My wife said that her uncle (the original owner) killed a bear up in Alaska with one of these. If I had to guess, i would say it was the Marlin.
