Winchester Model 70 help

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hey guys. I just bought this model 70 Winchester and am trying to find out more info on it. I have dug up that it was made in 1979 but that's about it. It is a .270 XTR model, had the iron sights but I removed them last night. Apparently Winchester made a "Classic" model those few years to and am wondering the difference. I gave $400 for this rifle with a cheaper bushnell scope. I'm very happy with it but in your opinion was it a good deal?

The classic had a pre 64 style action with the large claw extractor. Your xtr is a push feed action like a 700 Remington. If it looks as good as it does in the picture, you did o.k. at $400.
