Sshhhh! Don't tell my son.

My son has been so good this year that he's getting his own Mosin Nagant for Christmas. Being the lover of Soviet era equipment he's also getting the ushanka that the cute blonde in the picture is sporting. Don't let him know though, I'm sadistic enough to want the suspense and suspicions to kill him.:P

Spam can's on the way. I had to order it online. I've got 100 hundred rounds of Russian milsurp right now. Took everything I had to not fire the first round myself after I bought it. That honor is all his.:)

My rule is the same as most everyone on TGO: Never buy a weapon without ammo!;)

Sounds like a couple of great gifts for him.

I haven't been this excited for Christmas since I was a kid. Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas. I don’t even know you or your family, but even I'm excited for your son.

My 6 year-old daughter already has a pink laminate Crickett rifle, but she told me she is asking Santa for a "pink-girlie rifle case, a pink-girlie range bag, and a backyard shooting range for her rifle using Super Colibris." I was happily surprised, to say the least.

:rofl:lol Too funny and too cute! Yeah, I mean cute.

What is it with daughters being combat princesses? Not that I mind. It actually makes me proud for you and your daughter as I am for mine.

My seven year old daughter, that's her in the picture, wants a Taurus PT111 Pro like Mommy's except with a pink frame. She's seen that pink Crickett at the gun shop we go to and she fancies it without a doubt. Unfortunately her wish list is a bit more undo-able than that. She wants a Hello Kitty branded, solid stock M4 style AR15. I don't know who makes it but I've seen it... on the 'net of course. I don't know if I could touch it without getting severe pink-itis because it's so pink.

Thank you for the heads up, Ghooge! I had no idea there was a gun anything over that way! I'm always up for going to a new gun shop! I'm going to visit their site! Thanks again!

Awesome! I would be excited myself, so I'm sure he will love it. I thought my son would crap himself when he got his first 12ga. so I am looking forward to seeing him with a nice rifle!

Great choice and Merry Christmas

I'm pretty sure my son's going to crap a brick house when he opens it up. I'm like you, excited about the expression! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well, Rise!

Cool. That's one gun my son won't shoot yet. He will shoot the M1 Garand by himself but said he is not ready for the Mosin. I will get him one like you when he is ready.

Yeah, mine told me the other day she was covering her barbies, with the pink capgun someone got her, lol.

Offer still stands by the way, bring him by, and I'll set him up with a BUNCH of wwII era stuff to try out! From the sounds of it, he'd really get a kick out of it!

:) I thought of Woody from Toy Story saying "Reach for the sky" when I read about your daughter.

I appreciate that. I think both of us would love it! Not to sound stupid but I'm going to have to google Auburntown. I have no idea where that is and I'm still trying to figure out how to work the GPS.

Nice! You've got a son with great tastes. A Garand is by no means a lightweight in any sense of what it is. I've never fired a Mosin either but I've been told it kicks like a mule on crack.

Its between murfreesboro and smithville, about a half hour from murfreesboro or lebanon.

As for the kick....yes, very much yes. The shorter they are the worse it is, so the 91/30's aren't all that bad, the m44's and m38's will give you a nice bruise after a few shots. I would say they are right around a 12 ga, but the wood and metal design makes it dig in and seem worse.

The Garand being a semi-auto does not kick like the Mosin. Since it's a .30-06 it's not a lot different but enough he does not want to try yet.

Really not that bad.

My old Remington 700 in 30-06 kicks harder than a Mosin.

Last time I fired a Garand was sixteen years ago and never for a bolt action weapon. I'm excited to give it a try... after my son of course.

My son and I would be honored to come by some time. I know I'll enjoy it as much as him. We're both WWII nuts!
