Thought about this myself a couple of days ago. It is a very sobering and sad look

back into our history.

Thanks for reminding us.

The day that the sleeping giant was awakened and the full wrath of the USA was brought down on Japan.

My Dad was walking across the parade ground of I forget which stateside base, was about to be discharged, was carrying a new suit of civvies, when the loudspeaker blared the Pearl Harbor news.

Two and a half years later he was in 3rd wave at Omaha, then a long walk through Europe.

That was a terrible war, but that war helped build America into a Great World Power. I would hate to see what this world would be like had we stayed out of that war until it was to late.

I've known a few family members that served during WW2 and I have met some other people.

Always thank you VETS and those that serve in the armed forces.

I'll never forget. Our future generations should study this war. THAT is how Americans fight. Our soldiers today are even better.

I received an e-mail the other day with these photos and description.

"PHOTOS STORED IN AN OLD BROWNIE CAMERA

Thought you might find these photos very interesting; what quality from 1941.

Pearl Harbor photos found in an old Brownie stored in a foot locker. And just recently

taken to be developed.

THESE PHOTOS ARE FROM A SAILOR WHO WAS ON THE USS QUAPAW ATF-11O.

I THINK THEY'RE SPECTACULAR!

Man those photo's are stunning. Good Quality B&W photo's are sometimes better then a color picture. I have studied and watched allot of things about WW2 and you are right those are pictures I know I have never seen.

That first picture in 12, caught that explosion.

One has to remember while those pictures where being taken, people back on the main land did not even know we were at war yet.

I am still trying to figure out what the Round thing is on the bottom right of the last picture in post 12 is.
