Normally you just replace the upper and use a diiferent magazine for that caliber. I have a S&W that shoots 5.45X39 Russian and love it. There are many clalibers you can switch uppers on a 5.56 lower. Such as 6.8,6.5 Grendal, 7.62X39, .50 beowulf, .458 SOCOM just to name a few.

You would need a different barrel, bolt, and probably magazine to change calibers. The easiest way to do that is to just have a different upper receiver group in the secondary caliber you want to shoot.

Hey, Thanks thats sounds very simple, I would sure like to try a different caliber What would be a good price for something like the 5.45x39 upper and is the ammo close to the same price as 556.
