And I thought shopping with the wife was going to suck

Usually I hate shopping with my wife. But this particular day I put it past me and let my wife talk me into going with her to rummage through the thrift stores while we were running errands. My usual SOP is to humor her for about 20 min. and then start hinting that I'm ready to go. So I'm looking around and I spot a J.C. Higgins cleaning kit. It is in very good condition and I give it to my wife to hold.

...Long story short...the store owner and my wife are talking and she tells my wife that she has some guns for sale. So $300 later I now own a 1975 (called S&W soon as I got home) Model 19-3 in .357Mag and a worthless German .22lr EIG single action (free). And she threw in the cleaning kit.

Good (average) things come to those who wait.:(

And she told me that if I'd come in last week, she had a Winchester Defender to sell.:(

Absolutely gorgeous, and I'm happy for you (even if a tad bit jealous!)

I still hate shopping with my wife, and I'm sure I'll never find a deal like this at Dillard's (her fav. place)

My dad bought a double barrell, sawed of shotgun for $50 bucks at a yard sale once. YOu never know what you will find when you rumage through piles of junk

im going to assume this was before the BATFE got involved in that sort of thing....

You're also going to ASSUME that the shotgun was sawed off to less than 18"...:P

I love thrift stores. Some of the shooting items I have found are a Milt Sparks 1AT holster for $2 and several Bianchi and Tex Shomaker leather belts for $.50 cents also.

This was back in the 80's I think, he sold it a few years later. I don't remember the length of the barrell.

You can make a sawn off shotgun without the BATFE's permission... doesn't make it legal but it can still be done...:D

highly illegal, and not something most want to do, due to the consequences if you get caught
