Llama IIIA .380 Pistol

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience with this pistol? It looks like a 1911, but is it the same size as the full-size 1911? If not, what are the specs on it? I tried to find them on the web, but didn't readily find them. My impression is that it is more like a shrunken 1911. Can anyone help out?

Is this it??

Llama Micromax Compact Pistol Reviews Forum and Reference Guide

It appears to be 6.5 inches long, or a bit smaller than a 1911 for most 1911's (this has so much variety though). If this is the right one, maybe the details on the site will help you.

Llama firearms - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is loaded with info too.

Llama .380 as a final running commentary. It agrees with what I had always thought: llamas are mostly junk. Avoid if possible.

You want a nice 1911 380, look at sig's p238 model. Its a full on 1911 in minature, only 5 inches and change and a great pocket pistol that retains the full 1911 design and look. If you want a large 380, get a CZ maybe, but those are not 1911 styled. There are not a lot of 380s that are 8 inches long and 1911 style, I cannot think of any actually...

Thanks for the info. I'm not in the market for one - my impressions of them have not been good either. I make holsters on the side and someone e-mailed me to ask if I could make one for a Llama IIIA .380. I guess that Micromax pistol is the same thing. In any case, I can't find a dummy gun for it anywhere and it looks smaller than a 1911, so I guess I'll pass that one up.

Llama IIIA .380... I had one, many years ago. Was probably the most accurate rattle-trap I've ever seen. The thing was so loose you'd swear it wouldn't make a hole in the same direction twice, but always managed to hit whatever you aimed it at.

And yeah, they're basically a 2/3 scale 1911. Mine didn't have a barrel link, only a sort of tab that sat in behind what would ordinarily be the link/take-down pin ( it was blow-back operated and didn't lock the barrel to the slide at all, so no need for a barrel link. ). It also didn't have the machined scallops at the front of the slide like a 1911 does, and for some reason, the left grip kept cracking. I eventually sold it to somebody I worked with that needed a small gun.

Here's what it looked like. Notice the flat, unmilled section at the front of the slide, just in front of the dust cover:

OK, so as I suspected, smaller than a 1911, but bigger than a Colt Mustang. Thanks for the great info!

Much closer to the Mustang's size than a normal 1911.

BTW, I would NOT own another one. There're too many better guns for the same cost.
