A couple of questions about the MOE handguard

So I'm close to picking up my first AR with the MOE furniture, and I was considering placing a flashlight and a forward sling mount on it, and maybe a AFG. I already have the flashlight (a great Surefire light), but I was curious on how I should mount it and the sling.

I see they have rail pieces on their website I can easily buy and put together, but I wanted some experienced talk on how/where I should mount these accessories, as well as how many slots I would need for the AFG, flashlight and sling mount.

You can just mount the rails on any of the slots in the handguard and then mount your light to the rail. If you want to put the light, AFG, and a sling mount on your rifle I would just get a set of aluminum four way rails instead of the MOE handguards. With the four way rails there is just less stuff to deal with and less stuff that could break. Pick you up a set of used Knights Armament rails and forget the plastic stuff.

Thanks, Jason, I was on the fence about the AFG, seeing as the handguard is comfortable without it. I found a sling mount and some rail pieces, so I'll see how it goes.

if you go with the magpul stuff get (3) 11 slot rails and the rail mounted grip. unless you use the light kit which would replace one of the three 11 rail mounts (you can not mount anything to the top of the handguard) except they do make a magpul light mount which does attach to the top of the handguard

The rifle already comes with the furniture, and I may skip on the grip (time will tell). What are you hearing about the illumination package? Is it better than just mounting one like normal?
