Does anyone know if the SW warranty follows the gun or the purchaser?

Service Information - Smith & Wesson

1. Lifetime Service Policy

We will repair any defect in material or workmanship without charge to the original purchaser for as long as you own the handgun.

This is what it says, but they may just stand by their product, whether you're the original owner or not.

As stated above. But it appears to me (after over 40 years of owning them) that they do everything possible to keep from charging you; especially if it’s a safety issue. It just depends on what you need.

I’ve only had to send one gun back for repair, but I’ve called them countless times, sometimes just for info. I wish other company’s had the kind of customer service I have received from Smith & Wesson over the years.

I'd echo this with my experience also. I just hope these tough economic times don't force companies like S&W to do everything they can to deny warranty repairs.
