WHat's not to like? The Rifleman's Rifle in Supergrade. What's better than that?

Right now it's set for 4.5 lbs. Is pretty good might tweak it a bit. Very smooth, I have a sporter classic and this one is a bit better on the pull.

Looks like the same basic mechanism as my Browning X bolt. I'll vouch for it. Great looking rifle. I like the scope too.

Not a chance! The model 70 is the epitome of what a bolt action should be; a perfected Mauser action if you will. Not at all like an X bolt. Similar, however, to an old Browning Safari. I'm not knocking your Browning, but they aren't alike.

I was talking about the trigger group. Compare them on the Browning and Winchester sites. I know the receiver and bolt are different. Browning and Winchester are sharing some stuff these days, like their gas shotgun actions.

EDIT: BTW... the X Bolt is pretty cute. but I'm not sure they accomplished anything special other than the trigger and removable mag.

Sorry Mike, I think they do have the same trigger now. I'm not sure why they got away from the old model 70 trigger. It is simple and good. I have heard good things about the new SC model 70 triggers. I haven't tried one. They are still beautiful rifles. All mine were made in the old plant. Any way, I'm sure glad they are making them again.

Triggers are a big marketing deal in bolt guns right now. The new Brownchester trigger is a real good 'un. Second best trigger I own, and only because it's a 3 1/2 lb pull.

I'll bet it is a good trigger. I'm glad companies have begun to focus on triggers. A few years back, and useable factory trigger was hard to come by. Have you ever seen an old model 70 trigger? It is among the simplest mechanisms I've seen, yet it can be adjusted to feel and work great.

No, I haven't. 3 lever schemes seem to be the wave these days, and I think there's something to it. The Browning trigger is clean, but the 1lb jewell on my 700 is a work of art. It will go a lot lower than a pound and remain safe. I don't think you'll see anything lower than 3 lbs in a factory trigger just to avoid more lawyer fests. With that said, i'm guessing browning's new design would work real well at a pound. It would require different springs
