I have a handgun that I bought here on TGO. Is it legal for me to give it to my son who lives in Georgia?

You can loan it to him for temporary use for any lawful sporting purpose without involving FFL.

Temporary is not specified.

You must send it to a FFL in GA. You can send it yourself to his FFL if he accepts from non-FFL's, or you can have a local FFL send it to his FFL, but there is usually a fee involved.

I believe to legally transfer him the handgun as his own, it should go through an FFL in his home state. Y'all might just meet at his favorite gun store, and have them handle the process. With both of you standing right there, ought not be much to it, save for a small fee.

Thanks everyone. It looks like "56FordGuy" has the best answer. Find someone just across the line in Georgia and meet there.
