It's just plain common sense that if you know what you're going to get into - an invasive search if you fly - then it's pretty damned easy not to give your consent from the get-go... meaning you choose not to fly. Getting there, and getting halfway through the process and deciding you've changed you mind IS rather retarded after all... 'cause it's not like you didn't know what was coming.

Kill the airline industry, by requiring these ridiculous intrusions that profiling would be

more productive.

Kill the insurance industry by bailouts that went overseas, instead of letting them use

the bankruptcy courts.

Kill the automotive industry that could have done the same, except most of the money

you and I paid went to union pension funds and to keep the company afloat for a couple

more years.

Take over the banking system with the TARP funds, requiring banks to take money a lot

of them didn't want. Making them give loans they knew would never get repaid.

Making Health care into that utopian dream the Canadians and Brits have, which is failing.

TSA is akin to the Patriot Act. Taking away your constitutional rights for a tiny amount of

perceived security. The airlines should be doing their own security, not the government.

All the TSA is, is an impediment to the passengers and the airlines. I think it is intended.

Keep on wrecking our economy and way of life. Big Sis is one more example of liberalism

gone awry and should be sent home, and Homeland Security should be abolished. If you

like control, enjoy your flight. If you like your freedom get rid of this junk called security,

and get rid of that delusional clown in the White House.

And no one even opted out yesterday apparently. No one cares anymore. Welcome to the beginning of the end.

Read something from a merchant in the sanitized area reporting that they usually see about 1500-2000 people come through their particular shop on the day before Thanksgiving. Said they had about 500 this year.

Some airports also reportedly suspended the unreasonable searches after delays getting travelers through checkpoints became unacceptably long. Which makes perfect sense if the unreasonable searches serve no legitimate purpose, but make no sense at all if they're supposedly necessary for security.

I don't think you can necessarily equate income to having good sense, so I can't see where that would work either. Sure, people with jobs do show a certain amount of responsibility and self-sufficiency, but is that really enough?

I know a lot of people with jobs that I still think want and expect far too much from the government. They are as much a problem as anyone on welfare, in my opinion.

Take the crowd that regularly has a fit any time any pro-gun legislation is passed, for example. I doubt they're all unemployed. They just want and expect the government to see to their safety. And they're not the sort that I want voting, or having any elected officials listening to.

Sorry... I don't know what the answer is, but I'm quite sure there's no real solution, other than to somehow make the average person/voter smarter and less self-absorbed.

And I just don't see that happening any time soon...

My suggestion was just a flippant remark. You are exactly right. There are plenty of dumb ____s that have jobs. But someone that has no investment in this country is much less likely to want the best for it or even know what that would be.

Neither is ever gonna happen though.

... which pretty much means we're all just screwed.

BTW... I don't think it's just the people in this country who're at fault. I'm quite sure the whole human race needs some sort of genetic enema, to rid it's self of some unwanted and unneeded traits.
