Opened my mailbox this evening to find the "Department of Safety" envelope with my HCP inside! Three weeks to the day from application/fingerprinting.

Did my version of a Wally Walk this evening! Put on my gun belt and Mitch Rosen IWB holster after work (my entire building is posted, sad to say) and set off for the local Sportsman's Warehouse. Concealment was achieved by simply untucking my polo shirt - not stylish or neat, but I think it was passable from a fashion point of view. Spent quite a bit of time in SW, and actually ended up coming out of the store with a Benelli M2 Tactical shotgun - not what I went in for, that's for sure! I then grabbed a bite to eat in a local sub shop, then went to another outdoor store to browse for a bit. Went home quite pleased with myself.

What I learned:

- I need some kind of undershirt to wear under polo shirts to keep the gun off my skin (and vice versa)

- a decent gun belt makes all the difference (I have heard that numerous times, but the difference was night and day)

- concealing a large framed pistol like my 1911 was less difficult than I expected

- carrying a gun heightens one's awareness of one's surroundings

Equipment:

- Kimber Super Carry Pro

- Mitch Rosen Express Line IWB holster

- Triple K 1.5" leather gun belt

even with my OWB holster with polo untucked, i still feel an undershirt helps.....i need to go buy more....
