22LR Identification Help...

I just got this from a friend of mine, we have no idea who makes this the only stampings on the entire gun are as follows; Receiver: "Royal Junior" in front of that is a circle with an "I" in it, Barrel: 22-Long Rifle just in front of the rear sight and back by the breach there is a circle "P". These are the only markings on there. Any help IDing this would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a rolling block. Similar to the Winchester but not quite.

It looks like an HSB &Co

Many thousands of these little Remington copies were made from 1890 to 1932. I haven't seen the "Royal Junior' brand before, but that's not unusual as there were hundreds of brand names being used by manufacturers during this period. Yours looks like it's in decent shape. Remember that it was made for standard velocity ammo, and will probably lead up quickly with today's modern high velocity rounds. If the bore looks worn, try removing the lead as most .22s will look like smoothbores from lead build-up long before the rifling wears appreciably.

It looks like an old hamilton company rifle.

But as others have mentioned - From 1920-40 there were hundreds of various manufacturers of these type guns. The national mfgs are kinda easy to spot, but the local metal shops that cranked them out in small batches are almost impossible to find info about.

I like stuff like this as well, I have my dad looking for me as well. He's the kind that won't stop until he has an answer. I have a Hamilton Co. 22LR, I forget the model off the top of my head. That one is easy, it's clearly marked with dates, names, serial numbers and caliber. This one has nothing like that, it doesn't even have a serial number on it. Thanks again to all of you that have been looking to help me.

Most pre 68 .22 rifles don't have serial numbers. Not unusual at all.
