New Randall

I bought this one swearing I wasn't going to lock it away and baby it. Now that I have my hands on it it's so nice that I almost hate to use it. I may end up like a lot of others just buying a Blackjack to use and keeping this one in the safe til the Zombie Apocalypse. :)

I got my Randall after a 5 year wait in April. I will not use it. I have a Blackjack replica that is just as good. The Randall is a collector/family heirloom/something pretty to take out and look at every 6 months or so.

Very nice. I had a Randall many years ago. It got ganked while living in the barracks in Grafenwoehr. I might have to revisit this.

I replace it with a original Gerber LMF. It has been in my safe for 20 years.

I can remember when Randalls were using knives. My dad in korea and me in SA. I still have the smithsonian bowie I carried. Dad lost his on a rabbit hunt several years ago. I now carry one of several Carson knives all the time and sometimes one of my blackjacks. Just picked up another Blackjack 14 style and am negotiating on a md 18.

Remember to keep the blade protected from rust.

Cheers,

Got mine last month after being alerted, on another forum, that Randall had this model in stock and available for immediate shipment. It is a Model 28 with a brass hilt and green mircata handles. This one will be used.

I carry and use a Randall every time I go out. What are you all saving it for.

I hope when they are putting me in my casket they look at my gear and say

"Man he sure wore this stuff out!"

That's a beautiful knife. The only way to really appreciate it it to use it!!

I too am guilty of taking a nice knife and sticking in the safe. However, at the recent Spirit of Steel show in Knoxville, I picked up a great folder from Mike Sanders (of Louisiana). He's been making knives for 40 years. I believe it ashamed that such a useful tool has become "art". The older I get, the less i want to own something I don't use. After visiting with Mr. Sanders quite a bit at the show, I decided it would be improper to take this great knife that he spent so much time making (and so much thought into making it useful) and stick it in the safe. It's in my pocket almost every day now. I'm slowly headed in the right direction. Now I need to get my Randalls out!
