Hello

Getting in late but my two cents: I have two .32s, one the Kel-Tec and one a Beretta Tomcat. The Tomcat was originally for my wife's purse, but the weight was an issue so she hijacked by BUG and I have the Tomcat.

Our Kel-Tec has the extended magazine and still would fit comfortably in a pocket holster, is not a bear to practice with (max of 5-7 yards is what I use with the smaller caliber), and light to carry around.

Plus, the Kel-Tec is inexpensive, easy to work on/clean (Kel-Tec forum has a good section on smoothing them up a bit if you are so inclined), and reliable. I have not had one issue with it. One note, it does not like hollow points with the standard magazine.

Oh, and I agree with you and the others - I think the caliber is an issue if shooting thru something like auto glass, etc, but up close and personal, maybe not so much.

Good luck with your search.

Barry

I'm guessing that came from the LEO community. I remember a few guys that were pretty pissed about having to give up their .357's.

Yes, you're right! Almost no one wanted a 9 back then, and who could blame them, the ammo was pretty bad, guns, well ,almost all wouldn't feed hp's and if they did the hp's didn't expand anyway. It was seen as a weaker 38 spl. in an unreliable auto pistol.

I talked to several that welcomed the change too, especially some of the Illinios State guys. My 59 always ate everything I fed it, including hollow points. The universal bitch seemed to be the fat grip, but nobody was bitching about all the extra capacity.

EDIT: I should mention, I got my 59 a couple of years after some LEA's adopted them. No doubt S&W did a few tweaks after they hit the field.

If you're leaning toward Taurus, check out wholesalehunter.com. They have the best prices I've seen on new Tauruses. Don't know how long that will last, but the prices are considerably less than anywhere I've seen in middle TN (even with shipping and transfer fee).
