I did do a search but the newest was from 08' that I could find. I was hoping for some info on what is out there, I have read good things about the Uniden models but have other questions. First what is the trunking stuff also do you have to go digital such as the BCD models to really get the most hits or would the CHEAPER BC's work well enough? I do know they block the so called good stuff from a very old one my Dad has but do the newer ones pick up all of both sides of the conversations now?

Thanks for any info.

OH and I am looking for a handheld not one mounted to a vehicle or anything.

Newport and surrounding counties use vhf and uhf, no digital systems are in place as of yet. Bearcat, Uniden, and Radio Shack all make good scanners. If you have the correct frequency programed nothing is being blocked, of course when on scene a lot of agencies go to a channel that does not kick the repeater so the main channel stays open for other traffic. My radio shack scanner (less than $100) works great.
