Just for a fun discussion... Glock 17RTF with night sights, or Glock 23 3rd gen? You can bring caliber into it but lets not make that the deciding factor. IWB carry for both.

I'm originally from Detroit, and still have family there that we go to visit. I carry the same thing I carried every day in Memphis, adding only a couple extra mags. That way I was always carrying the gun I knew best and that I knew I could rely on if something should happen. The trick to surviving Detroit is, if you are in an area where you think you need a M2, don't hang around, just get out as fast as possible!

My personal decision on a 'carry' piece for Detroit would have to be the M1A1 Abrams.

I wouldn't carry anything else there.

My my oldest brother dwayne and my next oldest brother's father lives in detroit. My oldest sister's father lived there at one time. My youngest sister and me our fathers live in Cookeville, TN still but they tell me detroit is bad real bad.

With out checking out the current laws there, I would say everything you can legally get your hands on. Why risk being unarmed when you come up to the first street corner.
