Just a quick update

I haven't had a chance to get on here since I left, and didn't really stop at home long enough to do it during my two weeks at home.

After taking two weeks at home, I've come here to the "beautiful" Fairbanks, Alaska (hahaha, it probably is during the spring, but NOT during the winter, unless you like only one or two shades of gray). After some disorienting time going through inprocessing, I've settled into my unit's barracks way on the outskirts of the base. I made quite a few friends of my fellow E1-4's, and a couple Sergeants as well. This would make an entire week I've been here, and I've FINALLY gotten internet, and borrowed at that.

Went to my first concert last night, as well. Drowning Pool, with the opener by a local band, Static Cycle (google shows me it's related to the Palins somehow). I had more beer spilled on me that I'd even seen in one place outside of a liquor store. But it was still fun. Someone noticed I was easily close to the smallest guy in the crowd, and was promptly thrown on top of the crowd to surf for a couple minutes. That set the mood of the night of a wild and rowdy crowd.

Oh and years ago in brainerd at a bar I was drunk and my buddies band was playing and a mosh pit started. I climbed up on the pool table and dove on top of about 8 people and knocked em all down and jumped up and was moshing and bustin people up. It was fun for me but not for them I am sure.

Hey c.a.s. Stay warm and stay safe up there. Alaska is a great and beautiful place but it is not forgiving if you get caught unprepared in the cold.

They've made well sure I know that. It's disorienting when you're used to getting treated like a wuss for saying it's cold, here they are constantly asking if you're cold because it's a serious concern of health.

Did they show you the video of the moose cow killing the guy in front of the bank? I spent three weeks there training and that was the first thing they did. Don't mess with the moose. Point taken!
