3 gun shotgun choke and shot?

Any opinions on the optimal choke and shot size for 3 guns competition?

All I use is improved cylinder and 7 1/2 shot. If there is going to be alot of clays I will use 9 shot.

I run a LM (light modified) for everything. Most shooters find out what choke shoots slugs best in their gun and use that. 7 1/2 shot is mostly what I use with the occasional 8's, because I bought a case of 8's sometime back.

This could all be different for your gun. I would check POA, POI with slugs and pattern with shot, then aim.

Second the Light Modified. I ran that the whole PanAmerican match and only had trouble on one shot on one stage. I don't see much difference with 7.5s or 8s.

I ran cylinder bore at the last 3 gun with pretty good results. If I could I'd probably switch it to improved cylinder. But it being a fixed choke it probably won't happen.

As to the shot, whatever the cheapest walmart 100rd packs are. 7 1/2?

+1 to all the above. the only reason i have choke up pass IM is to try not to hit so many non-threats. but as slowsure said know your pattern and you will not need to.

Anyone ever heard of the Briley Diffusion choke? Spoke with a few top 3gunners and they all say that they run a Diffusion. What's the deal with it? All I got is that it put a spin on the wad and somethin somethin somethin ??????

Hey DaG-

I have one myself, though have really only used it on skeet. It provides a fairly uniform pattern, very similar to skeet though I have heard it varies for many people. I thought that I might use it at the PanAmerican match but it isn't tight enough to down plates and was of really no use with tight clays as most had no-shoots hanging around. I never took my light modified out.
