I'm happy to finally read a story about these fools being run out of town. It would be nice to see this happen every time they plan on being douchebags.

Supporters Block Funeral Protest in Weston - WDAF

WESTON, MO. —

People in Weston, Missouri banded together on Saturday. They wanted to protect loved ones who were saying goodbye to a fallen soldier. They stood up to members of the Wetboro Baptist Church who planned to protest at First Sgt. C.J. Sadell's funeral.

Sadell died October 24 from injuries he suffered in a surprise attack in Afghanistan. On Saturday, there was quite a turnout of people who wanted to keep the protesters away from the funeral.

"I'd say probably half the people in Weston are here," said Eric Moser, Marine Corp veteran.

Weston has less than 2,000 residents, but hundreds of people showed up to support the family of First Sgt. Sadell.

Sadell was in the Arif Kala region of Afghanistan when his unit was ambushed October 5. Five soldiers died and Sadell was badly injured.

"If you think about it, they've all gone to serve just so we could be able to do this," said Rebecca Rooney who organized the supporters. "He didn't die in vain."

Rebecca Rooney is a Weston resident who wanted to stand up against Fred Phelps and his followers.

"We got everybody here early so we could take up all the parking spots," Rooney said. ."We did that so Mr. Phelps wouldn't have a contingency that was really close."

Supporters came armed with patriotic music and American flags.

Protesters didn't stick around long once they saw the supporters.

"I'm glad they left, but I'm sad they came," Rooney said.

People came from Blue Springs, California and even Australia to be a part of the band of patriotic supporters. Half of the group lined up at the intersection while the the other half created a human shield at the funeral home.

C.J. Sadell was 34-years-old. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.

Sorry to be dumb, but what were the protesters, protesting against?

If these were anti-War protesters, then shame on them. Noboby likes the war, but protesting at a funeral is in very poor taste.

It's exactly because of incidents like this that Patriot Guard Riders was founded back in 2005. PGR members provide escort services and a flag line to the family of every fallen veteran that accepts this service. Because it is an all-volunteer organization, a large turn-out cannot be guaranteed. But the organization tries it's best to honor the families of as many veterans as possible.

Maybe that church will eventually get the message. That's a good sign from the

people from Weston, MO. I don't see how that bunch can call themselves a church

and do the things they do.

Not likely. The church is comprised mostly of members of the family of its founder, Fred Phelps. They're douchebags of the highest order. And as we know DB's like that NEVER get the message.

Residents of Missouri Town Block Protesters From Picketing Soldier's Funeral - FoxNews.com

Citing their First Amendment right to protest, Phelps' followers say they use funerals as an “available public platform” to “deliver the message that there is a consequence for sin.” Phelps is openly opposed to homosexuality and all government policies they he says supports homosexuals.

They didn't block them it sounds like, they just parked in every available parking space around it and there were no more left for the douchebags. What if you were protesting their protest, then if they tried to go through you, they would be impeding your protest! LOL!

I truly hope there is a special place in hell for the members of Westboro Baptist :usa:

Nah, they're Protestant Christians, eh? Acts don't matter, only John 3:16.
