GSG 1911 22LR

I've read a bit about these, and after seeing the price, I thought I'd give one a try. It came in this afternoon. In my opinion, this gun is a steal! It has a great trigger, nice checkered wood grip panels, adjustable three dot sights, an ambi safety, and many more features you'd find on a high end custom 1911. It is a full size, steel 1911, and feels, fieldstrips, and operates just like it's 45 cal big brother. For less $ than you can buy a 22 conversion, you get the entire pistol. Oh yeah.....it shoots great! Much better than I'm capable of.

The only downsides I see is that the sights, while fine, are made of plastic. Also the spare mags are quite expensive. I also don't care for the white letter billboard appearance they decided to give the sides. These gripes are just nit picky. For around $300, it's a heckofa lot of fun, and a 1911 you can afford to shoot.

I'm thinking about picking one of these up some time after Christmas is over. Be sure to post how it performs on the range.

I ordered mine from Antlers and Feathers here in Lafayette. It was $300. I think Bellshire Hardware has them in stock. It shoots great!!!

If anyone figures out what purpose the screw in the side of the frame above the front of the trigger guard serves, I'd sure like to know. If I understand the instructions correctly, you need to remove this screw to take down the gun.

Thanks, Mike. That's what it looks like to me as well. A cost saving measure I assume. Anyway, I shot it some more this afternoon. This thing rocks!!!!! I like it, the boys like it......the wife still prefers a revolver, but I think she's becoming partial to it as well.

Totally agree. Two mags should be the norm, but unfortunately there are quite a few manufacturers that don't agree with us on that. And the $35 seems to be the norm on .22 mags for the most part, at least the ones i can remember at this time.

The fit on my GSG 1911 is far better than my Springfield GI 1911. They sell for a very good price and the extra magazines are high quality. It also shoots extremely well and is very accurate. While the extensive slide notations are less desirable, they can certainly be tolerated for the extra high quality - low cost of the firearm. All you have to do to recognize the value is to compare it to a PUMA. [same cost - much less gun] Many other low-end 1911s rattle like a BB in a Boxcar by comparison.

Mike, you are more than welcome to come shoot mine and see how you like it. I even live close to the airport.

Bring it to the Meet and Shoot on Sunday. I'll be there.
