Yes, it is very fortuitous that we can carry into an establishment that sells alcohol for off site consumption. But the reason that we can't carry into establishments that sells alcohol for on site consumption is because there will always be those who who will bend the law to suit them and they will consume alcohol while armed regardless, which is irresponsible.

An example of bending the law to suit is shown in the responses on this thread which have people rolling their eyes when the question was asked if db99wj carried a firearm into a place that was off limits.

A handgun carry permit identifies you as a citizen who understands personal responsibility and has a general respect for the law. And when you bend or ignore those laws to suit you, you project a less than ideal image to those who are against CCW and shall issue legislation.

This is not intended as a thread hijack or a personal attack in any way, so don't perceive it as such.

Anyway, back on topic. If a IWB holster becomes uncomfortable when you eat, your pants are too tight. As a general rule, always buy pants one size larger than normal if you intend to wear a IWB holster.

This is a great discussion. The intent of this topic was to poke fun at myself for eating way past capacity and being uncomfortable, but it was worth it. But I see where this has lead us and welcome the discussion. This has brought us back to a topic that has been discussed, HB 1143/SB 1885 http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299 ,if you don't like it, call your rep.

There needs to be a change, I wonder what we would find if we would compare the number of problems in a Red Lobster, applebees etc (a food place that serves alcohol), vs a real bar or a place that serves alcohol and has a few food items, what we would find, I would be they would be at the opposite ends of the spectrum from each other. I bet there are more problems at a convenience store that sells alcohol for off site consumption than at a restaurant, look at the nightly news, there is always a convenience store getting knocked off.

Of course the only problem is with all this is that criminals don't give a crap what the law says. The law affects us, the law abiding citizens.

There are times that we have to disarm ourselves and leave things elsewhere while we go inside certain places or into certain areas, we do what we have to do, like I mentioned earlier. It all comes down to you, you have to make that decision for yourself and not let anyone make you feel any different for doing what you think you need to do. There are times I have to leave it in the car, I don't like it but it is what it is.

I've eaten downtown Nashville in the evenings a few times. It has always meant parking my vehicle in a garage 4-6 blocks away from the restaurant, which means walking a good distance through sketchy territory. Even if it's just pepper spray or a locking knife, I've never ever gone unarmed.

This law has GOT to change. I'm not worried as much about getting jacked up while eating dinner inside The Melting Pot. But I don't have that same optimism for the walk to and from my car.

Tungsten, I am with you. If I eat at an establishment that serves alcohol, I carry my browning knife with me in my front pocket with my wallet. This way, a punk wants my wallet, I give it to them while I am arming myself. Personally, I agree, the law should be changed. It is ridiculous that law abiding citizens cannot be trusted to not drink alcohol while carrying yet we can be trusted to NOT carry our gun into the establishment in the first place??????

This way, a punk wants my wallet, I give it to them while I am arming myself. Personally, I agree, the law should be changed. And may I add, it's all about common sense if you ask me. By law, it's not kids walking into a place that sells alcohol with a weapon, it's an adult (hopefully)! One that should know right from wrong! The right being not to drink while carrying! My !!!
