1911 Mag well?

Do any of you carry your 1911 with an extended mag well? Just looking for what the general thoughts are out there?

I know that they add more weight. When dealing with EDC is it worth it?

I have one on my Springfield. To be honest, I really don't notice it when it is being carried.

Yes, and no... it's not even noticeable that it's there. We're only talking about 1/4 inch of material, if that.

I was wondering if the adding of a mag. well added enough weight to be noticed for an edc pistol.

It's not noticeable at all to me. I wouldn't carry a 1911 without one anymore actually.

I think it depends on your circumstance.

I carry a bobtailed commander IWB, and just rounding that bobtail corner off made a significant difference concealing under a summer T shirt. So for me at least a magwell is much more noticable, not the weight but the 'print'.

But if you are carrying under a good vest or jacket, you probably won't notice a difference at all.

I honestly have never heard of anyone running a magwell on a bobtail 1911. Seems highly counter productive to the purpose of the bobbed mainspring housing and frame.

I am sorry, that was confusing. I wasn't proposing a magwell on a bobtail, but rather that the small additional amount a magwell adds might make a difference, as the small amount removed via a bobtail makes a difference at least for me.
