My wife laughed at me yesterday!!!

So, I had my family in Fairfield, AL (near birmingham) last night, and as always, I was packin'. I was putting transmission fluid in the car when I hear a gunshot... close! I instinctively duck, turn, and take cover behind the hood of my car and grab my gun within seconds. As I am starting to draw, I notice an old clunker car driving down the road backfiring. I secure my pistol, get up, and look at my wife, who is laughing her head of in the front seat! She said, "It was that car, pretty impressive moves though!"

scared her for a second too, but she saw the flash from the tail pipe. I had my back turned. I would much rather look like an idiot ducking for cover and grabbing my hip and it turn out to be a backfire than to not react and it be a gunshot and I get hit in the rear by a bullet. I am glad that it happened, at least I know how I would react if there were shots fired and how quickly I would react.

Yeah, I too have been scared by similar noises. Having lived a long time in So. FL, I never got used to gunshot or similar noises and I still react. Better safe and laughed at than dead and mourned.
