Rivergate Mall?

Recommended Posts

I went into Sears and it was not posted. I drove by the food court on the way to Sears and it was posted. So if I was to enter the mall at Sears without prior notification of carry limitations, is it ok?

I noticed the same thing just go in through Sears, but it was pointed out to me it is posted at all the mall parking lot entrances, except the entrance when you come in from Red Lobster. Presumably if you enter the parking lot from there and do go in through Sears you would good.?.? Me, I always carry there, go in through Sears and have never been stopped or looked at. If there is a mall where you would likely be robbed at in the Nashville area Rivergate has to be #1 or #2 with Hickory Hollow.

Many malls are this way. It seems that to be in the letter of the law, there would need to be a posting at each entrance from the department stores to the mall itself. Most malls just have them on their direct doors, and on the "Rules of Conduct" sign that's written in 8 point font and shoved off to the side of the Information desk that nobody uses. As far as whether or not a DA would prosecute and if the case would be succesful remains unknown. I don't want to be the case study on that one.

You're fine. BTW if you will notice every entrance to the mall property has a posting at the stop signs banning firearms. Interesting attempt on their part to post but doesn't cut the mustard legally.

IANAL, but the issue is those streets are public streets and not private parking lots where they post... If they posted everywhere there was a parking lot entrance where they owned the property they could post those.

As a general rule if you can receive a speeding ticket the street can't be posted per 1359 :)

Good info. My little Sig P238 isn't noticeable in my pocket anyway. I was just wanting to be careful and not get beaten down by rent-a-cops. Rivergate is now a bad place, not like it was back in the day. Just wish Corn Dog On A Stick would come back.

FYI - Just remember the parking lots and roadways around Rivergate are patrolled by Goodlettsville PD.
