Looks like the gun grabbers are at it again!!

Indiana- -(Ammoland.com)-A recently introduced Indiana bill would greatly restrict the ability of residents to purchase firearms.

Senate Bill 304, sponsored by Senator Connie Sipes (D- New Albany), would, with limited exceptions, prohibit anyone from purchasing, renting, or obtaining a firearm by transfer without completing a new firearms safety course administered by the state police department.

The measure only allows those that have their concealed carry licenses, are current law enforcement officials, or are current and former members of the armed forces to be exempted from the safety training mandate. Sportsmen who are licensed hunters and have fulfilled their hunter education requirements, would still be prohibited from purchasing a new or used firearm without first taking the state’s mandated safety course.

“Law abiding citizens should not have to jump through hoops to exercise their second amendment rights,†said Jeremy Rine, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) associate director of state services. “This bill creates a new level of bureacracy without cause.â€

SB 304 has been assigned to the Senate Committee on Corrections, Criminal, and Civil Matters.

They never go away, until you vote them out. Sometimes, even then, they stick around.

Yea, well in NJ just before I left and came to this GREAT STATE OF TENNESSEE, they had just passed a law that Law abiding people, could only purchase one pistol a month!

Again, another reason why I left the state! I felt as though I was one of the last of the mohikians!!

Hopefully, Gov. Christie will see fit to change that.

Well as you know, the governor can't make laws so I'm guessing nobody there is holding their breath.

A little research goes a long way.

Indiana Senate bill 304 was introduced on January 12th, 2010 and the Indiana Senate has already adjourned for this year.

How often does the Legislature meet?

Yearly. The long session is held in odd numbered years and must end by April 29. The short session is held in even numbered years and must end by March 14.

The real question is why you need to take a class to go and hunt? Or to carry a firearm... Exactly how many people fail hunters education class, or their carry permit class? How much money could we be saving the tax payers (for not charging them for classes they don't need)... if we got away from these silly requirements.

Sure there are people who probably aren't safe to have a gun both for hunting or self defense, but is the current class requirement stopping any of them?
