What are you listening to right now?

The sound of the truck next to me idling and fan on my electric Coleman Cooler. Earlier, I was listening to this:

Yeah, I know - I need a life...

Been listening to Joe Bonomassa on Grooveshark. Great Blues-Rock guitarist along the lines of Stevie Ray Vaughn. He's got a dozen or so albums, not sure how I never heard of him before.

That sounds an aweful lot like this...

In honor of my lovely and talented better half's birthday today:

Just don't get any better than the Gentle Giant! Amazing that he sounds as good in his 70's as he did in his 30's. :D

I don't listen to much music lately. Can appreciate country or rockabilly but am not a diehard fan. Today ran across a NC trio "Rebel Son" that makes very witty primitive music. Good stuff. Some of the tunes sound kinda like ultra-redneck REM, except those guys play better than REM. Other tunes sound more like conventional country or rockabilly except for outrageous lyrics.

It is probable that this group has NEVER recorded even one song that is safe for the office or suitable for children. The songs could possibly even make your wife really mad unless she appreciates the ridiculous.

So if you are curious just go to youtube and search for "Rebel Son". They are worth a listen unless you just don't have any shred of a sense of humor or if you can't stand hearing cuss words.

The listener comments on Rebel Son videos might indicate that the band is a lightning rod. Crude comments from all kinds of people showing their worst internet manners. The songs don't seem racist. They are vulgar and funny as hell glorification of a cartoon parody of the redneck way.

But waving a rebel flag and glorifying everything redneck seems to set some folks off. It also brings out the david duke sorts to defend the songs. Strange. I knew full-well that there are millions of redneck-fearing liberals and ferriners on youtube, but wouldn't have thought that so many david duke types are still out there and who post comments on youtube. :yum:
