I want to move back to Tennessee!! HELP!

I took a job in Indianapolis Indiana back in May and I have regretted it every since. Not the job itself, because where I work is great. I love this place. But the state that it is in is horrible.

I really miss Tennessee. Indiana has not only a state income tax, but each county has an income tax. And since I live in Morgan county and work in Marion county, I pay an income tax to both! I make about 8 thousand dollars more a year here than I did in Tennessee but I actually bring home less money every paycheck than I did there.

To top it off, when we enrolled all 5 of our kids in PUBLIC school here, we had to PAY $130 each for text book rentals! In Public School! We never had to do anything like this in Tennessee.

And my God the roads here are horrible! Driving on I-70 is like driving across the surface of the moon at 65 mph! Pot holes and very poor patch jobs.

This state sucks. I want to come home. My wife wants to come home. My kids want to come home.

Anyone out there in Tennessee who owns a company or knows of one who needs an electronics tech?

I'm mainly ranting here but seriously, if anyone knows of a job that is open, please tell me about it. I want out of this Yankee hell hole.

Man, that sucks Mike. It seems the more you pay in taxes, the less you get for it, doesn't it? I hope you are able to get back to the patron state of shootin' stuff real soon.

Mike I read your post on DC about your idiot brother too. Sorry to hear things aren't going well for you. I hope you can find a job and move back soon.

I graduate college in May and every company I've talked to so far has the same question, "are you willing to relocate?" I fear I'll get a job in some communist state up north or the horrible California!!

I lived in Indianapolis for several years, Fountain Square.

I hated it there. I lasted long enough to make it through school then I brought my happy ass back home to Tennessee.

No one can drive, the weather sucks (I don't think it ever got above 80* there) the roads are horrible, the entire State is in disrepair and all the people are rude and callous.

I don't really have any fond memories of Indy. I made some good friends, but they didn't outweigh all the bad.

I am glad I am home, and I don't really harbor thoughts of leaving again.

Sounds like cincinnati the way the roads are you are describing. THe last few times I went up there it was bad road wise.

Do a web seach for Hemlock Semiconductor in Clarksville Tennessee. They are building now and hiring some folks, not sure what personnel are being hired at this time.

I hear ya man. I moved to Indiana for school and I lasted there less than three months. I consider that state to be the ******* of America.

I have some family from Indiana and they all moved down here. Their only beef with TN is the bird crap. Seems birds fly upside down over Indiana, something about nothing there worth ****ting on.

As a transplanted Hooiser, I love Tennessee but the bashing of Indiana is, well, amusing. I can find as many things to criticize here as has been the case for Indiana.

Good luck, I hope you get back to Tennessee.

Not meaning to hurt anyone's feelings. Its Monday and I was looking for a target of opportunity. Indiana just happened to be this week's victim.

Thanks for the tip my friend! I will check them out. How do you like it there in La Vergne? I have never been there but, it's in TN so it can't be too bad!

There are worse places to be than Indiana. So, come back if you can. But in the meantime, thank the Lord you aren't in NYC.

Good point mousegunner. If I was in NYC I'm pretty sure I would have already dove off a bridge.

By the way, we are supposed to get SNOW this Friday. Nov. 5th! Good Lord help us all.

The city of LaVerge itself sucks but the part he's talking about is the Industrial Park which isn't so bad. Just very... industrial. LaVergne proper can be thought of as the DMZ between Antioch (gangville) and Smyrna (a nice place to live). It is a nice buffer therefore I'm glad it is there, however I wouldn't want to live in LaVergne. Period.

There are nice parts of LaVergne, however, but unfortunately they suffer from the stigma of being part of LaVergne. I know several folks who live right across the Smyrna / LaVergne line and claim to be Smyrna residents even though they aren't technically. Sadly their property value doesn't reflect their personal beliefs.

We live near Memphis so I know a thing or two about Gangville. :D I almost had to shoot one of the local underprivileged youths in South Memphis (at the Sam's Club on Getwell) in Jan of '09.

I would dearly LOVE to live in Knoxville. That would be the ultimate goal.
