Rattling for bucks

So when does everyone start rattling for bucks? I have heard reports of deer in the area starting to push each other around a little. I know that most of the bachelor groups have busted up and bucks are running alone for the most part. Usually Muzzleloader season is the best "chase phase" of our rut. So when is the right time to rattle?

Tickle 'em now, Whiskey. As the weeks progress into muzzleloader season, start to get more aggressive with your sessions. Break limbs and thump the ground, grunting, snort wheeze, blow...try and simulate two bucks really going at it.

After about 5 or 10 minuets of this...go quite for about 15/20 minutes or so, looking and watching and listening for incoming deer...which you hope will be 'ol big boy.

If no response happens after about an hour of this...change locations.

Maybe with this cold snap hitting now, they will actually kick off the rut on time this year. Last year it was late. They were running does hard opening weekend of gun season down in Wayne Co. which was good for me and my brother but muzzle loader was dead. I usually don't rattle till I have seen some running or heard reports of them running does. Any earlier and it seems to have the reverse effect.

LOL, I can usually shake some branches but can't figure out how to thump the ground from a climbing stand yet.

I got a report of a 8 and 10 getting taken while locked up on Monday in the LBL. I'm on the injured reserve list for the rest of bow, but if the weather stays cool , I'll be raising a ruckus next weekend.

I had a 8 and a 4 point running together last weekend, I thought they would have already separated.

Couldn't get a shot on the 8 too many limbs in the way.

I saw a 6 point bird dogging a doe on Saturday. Game Warden buddy reported seeing a 4 point hard chasing a doe on Fort Campbell.

However, I have game cam pics of bucks still together.

Bucks are lone here, and running scrape lines. I think rattling time is near.

My daughter "K-Bug" bagged a 12 point this morning that came in to "doe in heat" scent, and a doe bleat call. He smelt real musky and had a swollen neck. There were a few scrapes on the edge of the field (his or not I don't know), He was dogging a doe! I think it's about time to try a little rattling!

I dropped a 7 point on Thursday with a Buck Bomb and he was in full rut. I mean he came straight from the path of the bomb and he came with a purpose. Get'em guys!!

Congrats to your daughter!! that's awesome. I have a pic of my daughter with a basket 7 I put down but don't know how to post on this site.
