New Sig P290

Guy at work that is on call for smaller rural counties was at a training seminar yesterday afternoon and apparently sig was there showing off their guns. They had a p290 and he said it felt like it was too small to control, they didn't have an extended mag and didn't really say much about that but he did not like the way it felt. Obviously this is personal preference, he loves sigs but just did not like the way the 290 felt.

Well now, I was thinking about a Walther PPS 9mm, now I'll have to check one of these out before pulling the trigger on that purchase. Sorry, bad pun, I meant to say dropping the hammer on it...wait, that isn't any better. Never mind, I want a 290 AND a PPS!

It looks, and the description makes it seem like a downsized, single stack P250 Subcompact. I must admit when I first used the 250 it felt, well, wrong. After I got through the third or forth box though, it really felt right. I hope this new 290 will be the same. If it does, it will replace the 238 in my pocket as a back up to the 226 on my hip. Being able to use the same rounds in both will certainly be a plus.

Very interested in seeing one of these in person. Got rid on my P238 a while back, and if dealers don't hike the prices up, this might be my next purchase...

This months Guns & Ammo magazine has an article about it. Looks to be 4-5 pages . I just got it and haven't read it yet. I wish I could talk my wife into wanting one.
