Steel Cut Ideas

For those that don't know, I'm involved in cutting steel with my father-in-law. (Like these) Some members have already received cuts from us. I thought it would be interesting to pick the brains of TGO members and see if anyone had some new ideas for designs.

Keep in mind, these cuts can be cut up to 4' x 8' so size isn't really a factor and once they've been powder coated, they can go outside no problem.

Could you cut out a rendering of my airplane?

Oh yeah. Id just need a picture, a size, and an idea of what you wanna do with it. We could put it on a shepards hook or something too.

Garden Wall Art, Garden Gate Hangings From Shining Sun Gardenworks, Unique Metal Garden Art, Custom Wrought Iron Work In Parksville Qualicum BC

I've seen variations of these type cuts. A friend has a steel cutting mounted on top of his brick estate drive entrance. He stumbled onto the place that made it while in TX, went in to the shop and sketched what he had in mind. The owner and he came up with what the final product should look like and it was made and shipped to his home in FL. Looks darn nice.

How about a TGO Authorized Vendor logo?

With permission, I'd be happy to.

These cater to a certain crowd for sure.

how thick can you go? Are you limited by the type of steel? Is this computer controlled? Just what kind of performance do you get in a salt spray booth and corrosion testing. Well, I'm kidding about the last one, I spent some time doing powder coating and testing the results.

I'm actually in the market for a few smallish (5"x3") pieces of steel cut bit I need it to be a bit on the thick side. Like pencil width thick. I was planning in doing it with a band saw but this might be a better option. I see you can get plenty detailed, can you do something from a CAD drawing?

Would it be possible to do the Ruger hawk or what ever that bird is without having the company go ballistic?

Also an Eagles Head in a circle about the size that I bought would be cool and may would sell well for ya. You know like replace the snake with the eagle and change the words to In God we trust?

A simple one that you might could sell to some of these folks (not me...LOL) would be a big T in the circle with University of second place:P for the words.:D

Also maybe something for the branches of service?

Just thinking here and now my head is hurting so I must stop:)

All great ideas. Thanks Sgt. Joe! :P

Perhaps you could get into or advertise that you do custom work. In the very distance past I had done custom work for people but nothing like what you do, my medium of choice was wood. As is the case with anything "custom" you can generally charge more. Another added bonus is that you will get swamped with ideas or designs you never would have thought of. Even if you don't do the work for the customer you still have the design. Customers also seem to like the idea of being able to tell their friends that a piece is "custom".
