Interesting incident in front of the Polk building...

The wife just called me and said she'd sent me an e-mail concerning their "interesting morning" there in Nashville...

Here's the attached pics:

Now how a person can accomplish that, there in a 30 mph zone, without any major "help", is beyond me. Some people are just talented, I guess. :)

The wife says the person clipped the white truck - or almost did - and over-corrected the steering, but as narrow as the road is there I still don't see how they managed it, without getting sideways and rolling all the way down Deadrick to the courthouse. One way or the other, I would've expected the top of the SUV to be facing down slope, not for the vehicle to simply be tipped-over in the lane.

I also can't help but notice the ratio of people working vs. those simply holding "committee meetings".

Apparently the driver nor anyone else was hurt too badly, though I'm sure the driver needed/needs clean undies, at bare minimum. ;)

I have actually seen this happen at between 15 and 20 MPH. I was chasing a drunk driver years ago before I had a cell phone. I had yelled out my window to anyone within ear shot for people to call the po-po's because this guy was driving at night with no lights in the wrong lane on unlit streets. He finally turned down one street where a cop was looking for him and coming the other direction. The drunk hit the cop car's front left tire with his front left tire and rode right up the side of the car and flipped it. You couldn't even tell the cop car got hit. One of the weirdest things I have ever seen.

I'd guess that's what happened. The van's right front tire caught the dually's left rear. The tires grab one another and the van is on it's side in a blink. Common in open wheel racing.

My first thought was how the h3ll did they do that......THERE??!!!??? I do good to actually get to move a few feet at a time in front of the Polk building. I'll bet the meter maid got really mad and flipped it over.

Maybe this is city folk's version of cow-tipping? ;)

Or maybe Nashville has some car-tipping ninja cows, like this sign warns of?

( And it must be ninja cows... after all, do see any cows in that picture? )

I once saw an SUV (can't remember what kind - maybe a Dodge Durango?) flip on it's side at about 5 mph. It was several years ago and my buddies and I were on Ray Mears (Blvd?) going to a movie at the old Downtown West (AMC) theater in Knoxville. We were about to turn right into the theater parking lot when we saw the SUV, coming from the other direction, run the driver's side tires up onto the concrete 'curb' that surrounded the median (this 'curb was only like an inch or so high, maybe a little more or maybe a little less - I've seen speedbumps that are higher.) There were several people in the SUV and I guess the weight just wasn't distributed very well because the SUV started tipping toward the passenger side, really slowly. It was weird how slowly it tipped - as in I'm guessing it took three seconds or so for it to tip fully over onto the passenger side doors. As in the pics above, it didn't even look like there was very much damage. That was one of the strangest (traffic related) things I have ever witnessed.

No, but I don't see any fences either.
