Sooooo, I left last Thursday to visit a couple of customers in the Des Moines area. I spent a couple of days at different facilties in the area, and hung out with different folks from these companies over the weekend. All in all, a pleasent visit with very nice fall weather.

Until today.

I've been sitting at DMS International (Des Moines, Iowa) since 9:30am central time because of flights being cancelled and delayed to Atlanta. From Atlanta I have to:

A.) Catch another flight to Chattanooga (originally scheduled for 2pm)

Or

B.) Rent a car and drive home, depending on the availability of A.

At least there is some hope. We have a flight into Atlanta scheduled to depart here at 10pm, though it's still a 2 hour flight. Hopefully all goes well from here on out.

;)

Anyone else stuck because of "Inclement weather / high winds"?

Haven't flown "commercially" enough to get stuck or delayed anywhere but I can see it being a pain in the ars at least.

You got hosed by bad weather...I talked to a co-worker in Chicago today who said the wind was outrageous (for Chicago! e.g. they had straight-line winds over 45 mph), and it was very high here as well, with the weather service calling average windspeed at 25+. This afternoon, with the front that moved through, there wasn't a single good spot to try and land a plane anywhere in the midwest / midsouth. Better late than never. I hate that you were delayed, but getting home is the ultimate goal. With the weather today, it sure looks like the right call was made.

I think I saw that the lowest low pressure reading on record was recorded yesterday up there in the upper midwest. This storm system is something else.

Glad to be home, finally. I agree that the right call was made, and am happy to not have flown directly into a tornado :). Funny how we (I) get inconvenienced over something that could be life threatening. I guess that's the hustle & bustle of modern life. That, and the fact that I sorely missed my family.
