Wow, thanks for the picture.

One thing about yesterday and when storms like this happen the radio lets everyone call in and get on the air. Unconfirmed reports put more people on edge then anything.

I am not saying yesterday was not bad, don't get me wrong. Strong storms should be taken seriously. I have a block building which is my safest place in the event I need a safe place.

If Oak Ridges gets it bad, I also have a chain Saw/fuel to start cutting my way out.

Yesterday when Anderson Co became part of the Tornado warning (about 2:45 p.m.), it was the north part of the county but they list the whole county to make it simple. The storm when they talked about it and the radar showed it clearly missing Oak Ridge. However they had a caller calling in from Oak Ridge reporting seeing a Funnel Cloud on New York Ave. I had just left Oak Ridge about 15 minutes before that, weather was not bad in Oak Ridge at the time I left, so I can not directly say it is not true, but I did call a co worker that works about 3 blocks from New York Ave with windows pointed in that direction who is a big weather person. He just laughed when I told him what, when and where.

I am not saying every caller is lying, but I don't' believe every single I Funnel cloud report, but some callers just should not be put on the radio.

Not this storm but there was an event back in the spring I was watching on the radar and listing to on the radio, someone called the radio and reported high winds with a funnel cloud in over Oak Ridge. I was outside and the Sun was still shining and the wind was still claim. They reported the location and it was only blocks from my house.

I know some people that are deathly afraid of storms that they go hide in their basements when just a little thunderstorm goes over and it is my opinion sometimes these might be the types of people that are getting though to the radio to just get a report though, accurate or not.

I have never seen a tornado that I recall in all my 32-33 years of life and more than likely never will. Here in Dayton all we got was a bunch of rain. Looks like the tornaders passed us on both sides but never hit us.

Thats a good thing, I'm 51 and never seen one either and hope it stays that way. Seen enough of the aftermath up close and that is scary enough,

i missed seeing this one but i have seen two others. call me crazy but they fascinate the hell out of me, but then again curiosity killed the cat

I get excited around them, but like anything I keep my senses. Faster heart rate and I am ready to make a decision if needed. Hopefully that means I will be the cat that sees it coming and gets out of the way in time.

My fear is something will hit in in the middle of the night when I am asleep and I won't be able to even have time to get my shoes.

Ya'll are damn crazy! Those things scare the hell out of me.

I did see one one night when I was driving back to undergrad at Miss St. As the lightning would strike, I would look in the sky to see if one was around. I kept seeing this thing that, for some reason at the time, I thought it was a big spot light like they have a car dealers and stuff sometimes. There were cars blown off in the ditch and everything. I did not realize what I was seeing until I got back to my dorm. I guess the good Lord was looking out for me, because He knew I would freak out otherwise.

my first one i was at my uncles house laying on the couch looking out the skylight and i saw dark black clouds rolling in and start swirling. all of a sudden a hard rain comes down and starts to come through the skylight. i go get my uncle and we start cleaning up and its getting darker. i go to the glass doors and look out and i see a twister go across maybe a mile or less away. i was in awe from that point on.
