Armed Security Guard Licensing courses

Well seeing as how I am unemployed and see adds all the time in the paper for armed security guards I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere around that gave armed security guard licensing classes? Of course I have my own weapon and a hcp but you have to be licensed by the state to be an armed guard. I figured I could pass that class pretty easy and then maybe I could find some employment. I would be looking for classes in the Chattanooga or Knoxville area, preferably chattanooga as it is way closer.

Can you take this course premptively or do you have to be associated with a business that is requiring the permit? I ask because I am looking to join the "security team" at my church and they want everyone to have the armed guard license so when I looked at the application on line is asked for the company you would be working for.

You do not have to be currently employed by a security company to take the class or be registered by the State. Simply put "N/A" whenever it asks for your company.

I was also told by someone that whatever weapon you qualify with for your armed guard certification has to be the one you carry. I don't know the validity of that, but you may want to check on it if you are considering that route.

Yes,the weapon you qualify with will be the only one you can carry,as you will have to list serial number, make, model on the brown sheet your instructer will send the state. You can qualify with more than one,my sheet includes a 12 ga and my Glock 21.

Years ago when I was asking around most companys were very strict on weapons you could carry. Very few would allow any 1911s. Actually most said 38 only, and if auto was allowed they said 9mm. I have a basketweave holster for a xd not a xdm I would sell you cheap or let you borrow.
