Puting together the lower tonight and wondering about tips or somehing I should know so I don't screw it up. It's my first build and I promise to post pics. I have a punch kit and plan to use electrical tape to help prevent scratches. Any other wisdom?

I did use the utility knife trick and didn't lose any springs. I did have my wife look up while installing the front take down pin, just to make it easier to find if it went flying through the air.

I was happy with how it came out. I traded for the upper on ARFCOM a couple of weeks ago and couldn't let it sit in the safe without a lower.

Is that grip bipod pretty stable? been thinking about getting one

I have one of the mil-spec grip-pods with the steel insert in the legs and it's pretty darn sturdy. I have it mounted on my rifle length AR with a heavy barrel and it holds the weight without flexing. I think for my needs it would make more sense to just purchase a folding bipod for my rifle, but for a shorty AR, it's fantastic.

It's very stable. One thing I noticed is if I'm shooting with the bipod extended I can move a little left and right. I'm guessing that's by design to aquire a new target without lifting the rifle. The LEO version does not have medal inserts and the military version does. This is the metal insert one and does add some weight. I think anything you can put on the rail that serves more than one purpose is the way to go. It's heavy, but probably lighter than a bipod and seperate grip.
