Welcome to my TV screen

Thanks to an HDMI cable and wireless keyboard and mouse, I can now surf the 'net - and aggravate you folk here on the forum - whilst lounging on the couch. :D

It was a pretty mindless chore, only requiring connecting the cable to the ports on the backs of the computer and TV, then configuring the comp so it displayed either a duplicate of the monitor, or did a dual screen drag n' drop type thing.

Best part is, the cable was sort'a free... Charter sent it to us for the "points" you acquire when you pay your bill. :)

Only real problem is that our 42" TV doesn't do a manual or auto screen adjustment, so a little bit of the borders are off screen. Nothing major though and easy to live with.

We manages to catch up with the back episodes of SG-U on Hulu, and it was no different that watching a regular broadcast.

Pretty snazzy for no more effort than adding a few feet of cable.

At least now there's no excuse for not being able to find something to watch on TV.

Tonight, for example, Crackle provided the entertainment with "Real Genius", an old '80s Val Kilmer flick.

I have to say though, that the downside to having access to some of this stuff is that it makes me feel really old... 'cause some of these "classics" weren't all that long ago, in my mind. :D:D

( The upside is that now when I see somebody in a movie that I just can't quite place, I don't have to get up to go Google them, to figure out where I've seen them before. :D )

I know if you have a nvidia video card you can fix the borders not fitting on the screen. Google should tell you how!

The old comp had a Nvidia card... this one's Intel.
