....My friends Anschutz.

Dang trigger was so light that it actually fired when my finger touched the trigger. And I literally mean touched, and not pulled! My finger had barely rested on the thing when BANG! :)....

Me too. Had a buddy with a Anschutz 22 hornet sporter. Greatest gun i've ever shot (...to date, testing is still going on...) period!

Keep testing for the greatest!

Kind regards,

Leroy

PS--Anybody old enough there to have helped fire the great "Atomic Cannon"? It had to be the best ever!! This looks like the real deal. Tested May 25, 1953. Fifteen kiloton shot.

Tested at Frenchman Flats-Nevada Test Sight. Seven mile shot, air blast. Link here:The Atomic Cannon

I realized I haven't shoot a big range of guns. I can probably count every gun I have actually fired.

For now, i am going to say my 270 Semi Auto by Remington. I am actually planning to take it out for some practice today before Deer season next month.

Dad brought it for me when I was 10.

Full-auto AR/M16 with a PDW-length upper . . . the owner said it was like an MP5 with a little more recoil. Wouldn't know, never got to shoot any of that uber-tactical German stuff. Looking forward to a machine-gun/suppressor shoot next year at Tier 1 Group in Arkansas, so I'll have a few things to add to the list.

My experience is also somewhat limited, but I liked the M249 SAW. You could make a pretty nice group for a full auto gun. Also like the Tommy. Not bad for a full auto .45.

The SAW is a sweet gun. I like the para version better than the full size. But neither one gets many good reviews from the guys over in the sandbox.

...When I was in the Corps my secondary was Nuclear Weapons Assemblyman. I was trained on the 155mm and 8" tactical nuclear weapons, but if I recall accurately above ground testing was a no-no by then. ...

What a great and responsible job! I think we ought to get these things out every once and a while to demonstrate them. We need to do a little nuclear shooting and resume atmospheric testing. It sends the right message to those who might think about doing bad things. Kinda like standing out on the back porch of your home and rolling cans around with your pistol or rifle. It sends the right message.

keep up the good work!

Kind regards.

My favorite is the MG3. We used to mount it on the tripod, use the slow bolt and buffer to crank out single shots to get it dialed in. Then swap out to the fast bolt and buffer and really hose down an area target at long distance (1000-1500m).

The biggest fault it has is the lack of a useful forward handle for shoot and scoot.

How much difference is there between the MG3 and the MG42? I know the MG3 is a later model, but don't know if there are any mechanical differences?

Leroy...the ATOMIC Cannon was a tiny bit before my time...but MAN that would be COOL to be on the SENDING end...not so much the receiving end...did have the pleasure of being on the gun mount and doing loading duties on one occasion aboard the USS New Orleans LPH-11...

Having shot both at work, I think the full auto RRA 10.5" AR was the most fun. But the MP5 is a close second. Now if I could get them to issue one to me. The 870 is lonely at night... :D

You may be right...I'm up next to the island structure in my COMBAT CARGO flotation vest...LOL...only thing cooler than being on the gun mount there, would be squeezing the trigger and firing a 16 inch Naval Rifle on an Iowa Class Battle Wagon

Agreed, that would be cool!

For me, in no particular order--a full auto M16 converted to 9mm. A 1929Thompson submachine gun. On the quieter end a High Standard Olympic in .22 short with a feather-lite trigger. Hmmm, on second thought, the Thompson was probably the most fun.
