I checked the Department of Public Safety and read what was needed. I took my class at Second Amendment Gun Shop in Springfield Tennessee ($50), then went to the nearest full service driver license center and submitted my paperwork and $115. They gave me a list of places to be fingerprinted and I called the closest to make an appointment. They fingerprinted me the next day and I had my permit in 3 weeks.

I did the Handgun Carry Permit renewal form in Memphis on Summer at the highway patrol office the same time i surrendered an out of state license for a TN driver license. The renewal is a one page application with carbon copies, so i am assuming the original must be obtained at the same highway patrol office. The highway patrol used the same picture on my new driver license for my handgun carry permit. I was really impressed how efficient the state is at turning around carry permits.....one month for me while i used my valid out of state Concealed handgun license until it arrived.

Completed fingerpriting on 04/05/08. Got permit last week. Now, how can a fat man hide a gun on his body?

Wait by mailbox and make 60 posts, minimum, about your anxiety while you wait.

Haha, best part!

Nicely played.

Well, you know, like ... what model gun?

( get a mousegun and you can just hide it between rolls :shake: )

Hand guns I own now: Makarovs, CZ52s, CZ82. Used to have a Taurus .357 mag revolver but it was stolen. All Great for the truck. When I first thought about getting my handgun permit, it was only so I could have one available on the road.

After reading "More Gun, Less Crime" I've been thinking about carrying. Problem is, I don’t even like carrying a cell phone. I’ve been thinking about the small Kel-Tec P-3AT 380 ACP model. On Ebay they have holsters for these, that look and fit like a wallet. So, they claim. And I want something I can hit a target 25 yards with. Don’t know how the Kel-Tec shoots.

Looking for any and all suggestions. I could not find a fold, large enough, for anything I own now. And even with the Kel-tec, I’ll get sweaty and It’ll squirt out.

Advice?

Take a look at the Comp-Tac MTAC. It's an IWB holster that conceals very well.

75' is not really a self-defense situation.

If you need to shoot someone at 75 feet, you are in a gun battle of some sort or you've probably exceeded your legal self-defense zone.

I'm not saying that it couldn't be a "legal" shooting, but it would take some odd extenuating circumstances for you to be totally exonerated.

To my knowledge, there's no involvement of the Sheriff. The office you use to submit your application will direct you as to how/where the fingerprints are done.

Just use the link I posted above and it will tell you step-by-step how to apply.

Good luck to you.

They send something to the Sheriff to get approved. When I called to see what the hold up was they told me they still hadnt gotten the approval from my local sheriff.
