Federal 9 mm gone from Wal-Mart...

...and replaced by Tula 9 mm for the same price point. I went to make a purchase while out of state and discovered this. Also the same case at home. Anyone else noticed this?

This is why my plan over the next few years is to buy fewer guns and more ammo. I would like to have a nice supply not because I'm worried about SHTF situation but because I know that the price of ammo is going to keep going up.

I recently bought 800 rounds of 9mm at $8.99 from Cabela's and plan to stock up on .40 as well.

Good rational choice, Erik. I wish you luck in keeping to it. I said that some time ago. I'm sure you know firsthand from me how that went.

But I totally agree about stockpiling extra ammo. It's one of the few commodities that has an unbelievable shelf life. I still have some of my Dad's milspec 45 surplus from Korea. Not much, but still shoots just like new 45 ball does.

Last time I was at wallyword in south Jackson they still had Federal. Don't recall what the price was though.

The Walmarts in Clarksville still have a bunch of Federal at $10.47 and I did see two boxes of the Russian stuff at $9.xx, but thats all.

I know what you mean, it's hard to control the urge to buy a new gun every few months. Especially when awesome deals keep showing up.

Not a good time for me to be running low on 9mm ammo, huh? I guess that's what I get for taking the $9.97 price point for granted.

It's just so hard to buy 200 rounds, shoot half and do it again until you get a decent stockpile. I tend to shoot way more when I have plenty.

Is the Tula safe in Glocks?

The Lenoir City Walmart also has begun stocking TulAmmo. When I was in there last week, they had some Tula in 9mm, .40S&W and .45acp. They still had some .40 in Federal but no 9mm and I wondered if they were just selling out the remaining Federal .40. The Federal stuff had gone up to $10XX per box some time back, there, so the Tula stuff is about $1 or so cheaper per 50 but the 9mm is steel cased and Berdan primed. Since my P95PR manual specifically says that it can handle any ammo loaded to industry standards in brass, steel or aluminum casings I went ahead and bought a box to try.

Is the Tula safe in Glocks?

I've used other steel ammo in Glocks with no problem. About the only thing you really need to watch out for is lead ammo, and only then if you are using the stock (polygonal rifled) barrel.

Weirdness all around. i was at the Turkey Creek Wal Mart today and noticed that they had restored the ammo display to the full cabinet. For about a year they had knives in one half and ammo in the other. I think they had a few of those 250 round WWB kicking around in 9mm.

my local wal-mart has no federal pistol rounds 'cept 2 lonely boxes of .40. In the slots 9mm federal used to be were several boxes of tula, also I noticed they had a bunch of tula 5.56 and 7.62x39 for i think $5.99 a box

I live way out in BFE and Federal 9mm ammo is $13.47 for a box of 50 at our local Wally World!!

Down 'Nooga, Wally on Gunbarrel had 9mm range ammo in Tula, Federal, WWB, and RWS.
