I need the long names

I've seen in quite a number of threads about 'come out to (fill in the blank) to shoot'. Invariably it is something like MSSA, WCRC, etc.

I don't know what MSSA or WCRC stands for. About the only one I DO know is TWRA.

Is there a list somewhere in this forum for these? I'd like to go shoot at some of these places but if I can't tell where the range is by not knowing the name of the range, how do I get there?

I don't have anything close that I know of but I want to get out and start shooting again.

Memphis Sport Shooting Association shows up as the second Google hit. Google's your friend! Can't help with the WCRC, though. Edited October 14, 2010 by jackdm3

I know Google is my friend. I've used it (and many others) for a myriad of topics.

But even you couldn't find WCRC with Google. What about some of the other places to shoot that are only referred to with initials??

BTW, WCRC is Warren County Rifle Club. I found it in another area of the forum.

TCGD - Tri Cities Gun Depot

Thanks for the list. Looking through it I find some places I hadn't seen before.

However I also do not see some places/clubs that I know DO exist.

Such as WCRC. I know there is a range around Dickson (but I don't remember the name at the moment) that I don't see on that list looking at locations. There is also a place around Tullahoma that I have seen posted here in the forum that hosts long range shoots. I don't see it on that list either.

See my problem?

Lots of places to shoot but I don't names or places. And if I don't know they exist how do I find them?

It is a good start combined with more listings. But it, also, is not very complete.

Another thing, I just recently moved into the state. So I don't know my way around very well as yet.

I do know by asking around locally that there aren't any public ranges close by. The closest I've found is the Stones Creek TWRA site. It is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If I want to shoot Monday thru Thursday I'm out of luck. If there is something closer to Westmoreland, I haven't heard about it. Maybe in Kentucky? Again I don't know.

Could a thread be started somewhere in the forum with sites, addresses (or GPS coordinates), public or private, etc. for us new guys that don't know our way around?
