And now you know why the word "retarded" is considered politically incorrect, these days. :biglol:

I posted this to my facebook and a friend of mine made this point.

"Freud also says half my problems stem from wanting to bang my mom too though"

Well, I BET Freud wanted to bang his mom. He wanted to bang all moms.

Sigmund Freud: "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."

Freud didn't say that.

It's always said on message boards that's it's from "General Introduction to Psychoanalysis". I have read that and the above quote is not in it.

It's a cheap....but long book if anyone wants to search for the quote...

As long as I say, "I THINK it was Freud who said, "A fear ..." and I "quote" it to a bunch of bedwetters who profess to know all about him, it'll make a point. Because as long as I don't look it up and you don't tell me where it actually came from, I can honestly say, "I THINK ..." Let's keep 'em guessing!

Freud was a genius....but was just as crazy as every other genius from the late 1800s-early 1900s,

I don't know where it came from but according to Wiki it was from "Guns,Murders, and the Constitution". I have not read that book so I do not know.

All I know is that is is not from the book folks say it's from

You think maybe the mountains of coke had anything to do with it?

Ran into Freud and Nietzsche in school. Didn't like either one.

With regard to sourcing quotes, I like what one of the founders said:

"I'm getting really sick of people misattributing quotes to me."

- Thomas Jefferson

There were a lot of geniuses from that time period and I doubt they all did drugs.

I think it's because they were all aliens and we, as humans, just couldn't understand some of their eccentric ideas :tinfoil:
