And I am getting real tired of the Bush bashing. Enough already.

It will never stop... It's the scapegoat for all the idiots. All they have to do is point and say, "It's Bush's fault" as they shrug.... Even the Big "O" does that and will continue to do so, until someone tells him to step up and start acting like President instead of a nice speaker that accomplishes nothing and blames everything on everyone else.

When they load up Nicky Diaz (the nanny that worked for Meg Whitman) and haul her back wherever she came from, I will believe they are serious. Till such time as that occurs, the release of the stated numbers appears to be grandstanding for the Mid-Terms. If they (the Government) wanted to, they could go exponential on the pick ups, plenty of fodder out there for them to take advantage of.

Gloria Allred needs to be disbarred for putting her client in jeopardy to further a Political cause, but that is a different discussion.

Spot on.

Yep, Gloria is a pitiful excuse for her kind.

Deportations may be analogous to a boat's bilge pump. It is nice to have a working efficient bilge pump, but it is even nicer to have a hull that is water tight enough so that the bilge pump is not often needed.

Again... you can seal every crack in your house, or maybe not. The roaches won't come if there's no food.

Obama is just proving that his administration is superior to that of previous president.

If by superior you mean that he was able to spend more than the first 40 presidents combined in his first year in office, then you are right. Bush was not able to do that. Not even close.

If by superior you mean that he was able to place a tax burden on my not even close to being born yet grandchildren and their grandchildren that will probably never be paid, then heck yea, he's kicking some real butt.

If by superior you mean completely ignoring the will of the people he was elected to represent and thumbing his nose at detractors as if they were a lesser life form, score one for the Big O.

If by superior you mean having disdain for the principles on which this country was founded, BO is the man.

If by superior you mean embarrassing an entire nation with his "Apology Tour '09," bowing to numerous heads of state, then hell yea, Barrack Hussein Obama!

If however, by superior you mean better in any way, then I'm afraid you have a very warped vision as to what superior means. Obama is among the most, if not the most, arrogant men to ever lead this country. It's obvious he does not care if you like him, support him, think he's right, or agree with anything he does. He thinks he is so much better than you that he can't even be troubled to respond to very real and deserved criticism. He is in the process of destroying our economy and even though his own economists now admit that the policies they pushed are a failure, he just goes on pushing more of the same.

When the history books are written, those that weren't here to see it will be told that Obama was the savior of the nation. It's the same load of crap we were, and our children are now being fed about FDR and the New Deal. What they don't tell you is that the New Deal is the skyrocketing national debt as a percentage of GDP that the New Deal and the programs that have spun off it have caused. We have become a welfare state ripe for the picking by leeches both foreign and domestic. You'll pardon me if I don't thank either of them for that.

I could go on, but I won't. </rant>

Yes drying up the goodies is another factor.

"Papers Please" for jobs, food stamps, welfare, schooling, medical care.

The "papers please" gets complicated however. Should the customer at a roadside produce stand do "papers please" before buying produce from a vendor? Maybe if I hired a Bosnian from Nashville to translate a web page, I could get in trouble if he wasn't really here legally?

Ain't saying we shouldn't go that route. Only that it is complicated.

Saddest thing is that you took a time and even edited your self to write all this .

There is no such a thing as illegal Bosnian.

Your opinion is blinded by your environment.

You at least tried to sound smart .........

How are you still here? I mean really, is it just amusing to you to be perceived as a fool by the entire board or are you really that clueless?

Talking about how many illegals are getting deported now is like discussing trying to keep the Titanic afloat bailing with a larger bucket.

Until the borders are closed, we're simply reacting, not acting.

Edit: dangit, should have read the thread first, Lester beat me to the analogy and did it better...

People complain about the govt wasting citizens' time with regulations and mandates.

It is rather obvious that some employers, large and small, intentionally break employment law. But a "papers please" approach to the problem would lay a lot of extra legal burden and risk on just about everybody. It would require everybody to pretend to be an expert on documentation and employment law, and get in trouble if they are not really expert, or when they inevitably make mistakes.

Heck, if I deal with a policeman or FBI or building inspector, and I ask for ID-- The only thing it tells me is whether the fellow bothered to carry a fake ID. If he is able to hand over some document or card, I haven't the foggiest idea how to examine the ID and know if it is a REAL FBI badge or a REAL building inspector license.

I guess we need some way to keep from employing illegals or giving them welfare, but dunno if it makes sense to expect to turn ordinary citizens and low-level civil servants into experts on employment law, documentation and immigration.

The lady at the food stamp office might work real hard and be really good at her job, but she probably isn't an expert on immigration law. Some businessman who runs a tiny toner refill service or whatever-- If he hires a plumber-- If one of the plumbers on the crew looks mexican or bosnian, is it realistic to expect the businessman to turn into a part-time amateur immigration agent?

I think it is reasonable for police at all levels to take over part of that task however. Presumably police are expected to know a lot more about ID and law than the ordinary citizen.

There are varying degrees of "closed". The Great Wall of China... closed. A big fence... not so much.

I don't like a "papers please" approach to anything. I'm suggesting laws with some teeth. There's a reason we haven't all converted our AR's to full auto.
