Parents: Dying Girl, 7, Taunted by Neighbors in Trenton

TRENTON, Mich. - Her family says 7-year-old Kathleen Edward is in the final stages of a degenerative brain disorder diagnosed as Huntington's Disease - the same disease which killed her mother, Laura, when she was only 24.

Neighbors Jennifer and Scott Petkov, who have been feuding with the family, admitted to posting grim depictions of Laura and Kathleen on Facebook. One photo depicts Laura in the arms of the grim reaper, while the other features Kathleen's face above a set of crossbones.

The couple also have a coffin hitched to a pick-up truck in front of the house, which they say is nothing more than a halloween decoration.

Click on the video player hear the Petkov's admit to posting the photos and watch the full orignal story from FOX 2's Ron Savage.

NEW DEVELOPMENT: Play the second video in the story for an update from Fox 2's Amy Lange to hear an apology made by Scott Petkov ( click here for Amy's full story )

Police responded to the public feud Thursday, but no arrests were made.

The big question: why would someone do this? Police tell Ron Savage they have been called to this street before, dealing with long-standing "family-feud" issues.

A member of Kathleen's family says the bad blood started about two-years ago after the two families had a falling out over a birthday party at the Rose house. At the party kids were using a "bounce-house" and playing games in the front yard. The source says that Jennifer Petkov texted someone in the Rose family, asking if her kids could come to the event. A response to the text did not come quickly enough and it angered Jennifer. According to the Rose family, she's been harassing them ever since.

A rally for Kathleen Edward has been planned for Saturday, Oct. 23 from 3 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Haas Park in Trenton.

The invitation reads: "She has been tormented by sadistic neighbors. Please come and join us in showing Kathleen there are good people that care."

Watch the video. Holy ****ing ****.

Unfortunately, no law against reprehensible behavior.

There are some truly sick people in this world. The woman's reasoning behind this, it gave her "personal satisfaction" by getting back at the little girl's grandmother, is pitiful at best. That woman needs some psychiatric help, seriously.

This woman defines "White Trash".

Notice also that it was the husband who apologized in the follow up story. I'm willing to bet that wifey has no regrets.

Human garbage... complete and utter, garbage.

This is a constant issue with society. If we aren't allowed to use any type of punishment to correct this type of behavior then how will we ever control it? There seems to be no reasonable solution. We can't just allow a good asskicking because that would give them the justification to shoot back in self defense.

Scum, Lowlifes, Parasites etc. There's a whole dictionary of words that describe them.

I suspect you are right. Husband seems to "get it." Probably wasn't him in the first place.

Too bad he's married to that POS. Seems she's the one with the problem, and is begging, just begging, for an "attitude adjustment" at some point. Maybe the husband will grow a pair and make that "adjustment." If not, I feel sorry for him, as well.

... Just watched an additional video. Seems the wifey "gets it" now as well. Her apology didn't seem too sincere, but maybe the death threats SHE'S been getting at least brought her to publicly admit that she was in the wrong ... or maybe the husband DID grow a pair and is working on that attitude ... either way, maybe that little girl won't have to deal with the POS neighbor while she's dealing with her own mortality ...

Wow. Just..wow. I'm generally pretty pessimistic when it comes to my expectations of other people, but that is just wrong beyond belief.

Hopefully, the kid will forget it ever happened. When I was that young, I took seriously the words and opinions of big people, no matter who they were. They seemed more legitimate than I was because they were grown up. If a neighbor had done something like that to me, my first thought would have been, "If they don't like me, it must be because I'm a worthless person." And that conviction probably would have stuck. The mind and soul are easily molded at that age.

No law needed (or desired) against this type of bad behavior. The follow-up stories show that cultural shaming is far more effective. I won't comment on the egging and death threats.

America has a lot of problems, but most people will still stand up to someone who bullies a child. We have mortgaged their future and sold them into wage slavery to America's creditor nations, but the day we become so depraved that no one will lift a finger to prevent the psychological destruction of a precious child is the day I start packing for Antarctica.

Drew, are you sure you're only 23? You are wise beyond your years, my friend.

Well ... I'm a lot dumber in person, unfortunately. :)

I have been blessed to be surrounded with some great folks and thinkers and teachers ... if anything's made it through my thick skull, it's due to them.

Holy Hot ;). What kind of person picks on a little kid, especially one with a terminal disease. Isn't that about as low as it can get?

Hell, even in grade school I would not hit kids in a lower class then me, I knew I was bigger and stronger and I didn't want to hurt them.

Even the fights us guys got into in high school were not all that serious, fight one day and hangin out next week.

The Husband was probably trying to turn a blind eye to it, I say that knowing it is all but impossible to not know what is going on in your own (castle) home. It is possible he was unaware though, but if he does anything to adjust her attitude, it might come back to bit him in the ass legally, don't you love our system.

I don't think we live in one of those other states where a man is allowed to beat his wife on the court house steps. I think TN used to have that law but it is not listed on dumb laws any more.

Like

Stafford County, VA

It is legal for a man to beat his wife on the courthouse steps so long as it is before 8:00 pm.

Dumb Laws in Virginia. Crazy Virginia Laws. We have weird laws, strange laws, and just plain crazy laws!
